Yelp Poem

I called ahead
and she waited for me
even though she
was about to leave the office.

Notarized my document like a boss --
like a boss, I tell you, the woman knows how
to use a stamp, and talk about
entering my my info in a log,
that's what she did

-- And had me out of there,
back into the streets,
a beating heart in the Union Square bustle,
documents bearing her imprimatur in hand,
her sigil wending its way to the post office,
in, like, 4 minutes.

"Ten dollars a signature",
she had said

And soon
dispassionately collecting two fives
for one note in a ledger
the promise
fulfilled
